Bio
B Magik is a dynamic South African artist known for his genre-blending sound that fuses hip hop, R&B, Afro Beats, and Amapiano. Born Mnqobi Amos Ngcobo, he has carved a unique space in the music scene as a songwriter, rapper, beatmaker, and producer. Based in Durban, OB Magik brings both lyrical depth and sonic innovation to his work, making him one of the most versatile voices in South African youth culture.
With collaborations spanning across the continent — including artists from Botswana, Cameroon, Zimbabwe, and Uganda — OB Magik is a true pan-African creative. His music has featured on major platforms such as Netflix’s Blood & Water (Season 4), and he has worked with respected artists like Maraza, Beast RSA, Touchline, Rashid Kay, Manny Yack, and Taffy Da No.
He was awarded “Man of the Season” on Hood vs Hood Season 3, hosted by Zakwe, further cementing his status as a standout performer in the KZN hip hop scene. OB Magik recently completed a successful tour in Botswana in April 2025, supported by partnerships with Intercape and Concerts SA, expanding his cross-border reach. He has also recently expanded his creativity by venturing into live band performances, hosting a unique live band experience to bring a fresh dimension to his sound. OB Magik has earned nominations at the Durban Creative Awards and SAUMA Awards in categories such as Best Producer, Best Hip Hop Artist, and Best Hip Hop Song.
As co-founder of The Magik Xperience, an annual youth-led music event, OB Magik is deeply invested in community-driven culture. He has been featured in national platforms such as the BTTC 10k Challenge and Stimorol’s Flow Lab Bootcamp, and continues to grow his influence through live performances and digital reach.
