Malcolm Nhleko

Bio

Malcolm Nhleko was born in 1977, in Northern KwaZulu Natal in a small village called Ubombo.

He relocated to Durban in 1989. In 1990, he landed a major role in a movie called The Gift and co starred with Helen Mirren. Malcolm was a member of The Peace Train, which toured the USA in 1995.

In 2000, Malcolm studied Performing Arts Technology at DUT, which was formerly known as Durban Institute of Technology. He graduated with distinctions in 2003. From 2009 to 2012, Malcolm opened up his own Audio Tech academy, where he taught the youth and aspiring engineers and music producers how to run a music business and a production company. From 2011-2013 Malcolm Nhleko lectured at DUT (sound department)

Malcolm Nhleko is an active sound engineer and music producer, currently Ladysmith Black Mambazo’s Sound Engineer for over 20 years.
Having engineered on some of the greatest albums of all times, and working with the worlds best, he has gained enormous amounts of experience whilst travelling the globe.

Malcolm owns and runs Maltre Productions, a sound hiring company with small, medium and large-scale sound reinforcement gear for all types of events. Under that umbrella we also offer other industry solutions.
Maltre Studios has two digital recording studios with great mixing and mastering facilities.
Maltre Acoustix is a division responsible for sound proofing acoustic treatment for recording studios, places of worship performing halls etc.
Maltre Films is anoth branch of Maltre Productions responsible for filming documentaries, short films as well as music videos.
To date we have worked on “We are One” documentary about xenophobia, Sonnyboy, Mambazo Live at Bat Centre which was broadcast on Mzansi Magic, and many music videos.
