Bio
Kankam (born Stephen Kankam Acheampong on 17 July 1984), is a singer, songwriter born in Kumasi, located in the heart of the Ashanti Region in Ghana-West Africa. He started to pursue his passion for music after high school, picking up the guitar and learning how to play in 2003. Shortly after he began writing songs in his native language of TWI as well as in pidgin.
In 2006, he started recording professionally after meeting well known Ghanaian producer Lloyd Osei Baffour, also known as Peweezel. His first single came out in 2012. 'Mekondo Adiebi'.
This Afro beat inspired tune got him on a popular TV show "Allo Tigo" and enjoyed massive airplay on top radio stations across Ghana.
In 2015, his career reached a new chapter when he shared the same stage with the Grammy award winner Angelique Kidjo, Youssou N'dour, Wiyaala Sarkodie and Stonebwoy at the Mo Ibrahim concert in Ghana. That same year he opened up with an electrifying performance at the first-ever Felabration. also held in Ghana.
Today, Kankam has 6 singles out including his latest song. The highlife inspired song came out in late December 2020. Kankam is currently working on his upcoming EP.
