Reggae Music goes mainstream Jeremiah Fyah Ises live performances awarded a standing Ovation.
2019 has been a great year for the reggae industry after seeing South African reggae artists nominated for SAMA Awards and getting their own stand-alone category.
This achievement comes after extensive debates about whether reggae music should be placed with other genres in a mixed category.
Reggae music has always been alive but until now it has not enjoyed much acknowledgement as a mainstream genre.
However, at the 2019 National Arts Festival South African prince of reggae, Jeremiah Fyah Ises, performed so well he got standing ovation – a feat that placed reggae among the leading genres of music in South Africa.
Fyah Ises has shared stage with the winner of the SAMA Award reggae category Black Dillinger, and other artists such as Bongo Riot, Anthony B (Jamaica), Nkulee Dube, Mapaputsi just to mention but few artists.
Fyah Ises is signed to Baak Ah Yaad Entertainment (PTY) Ltd. The prince just finished recording his album called “Impilo ka Ntanga”. He worked with op producer Tiyanjane Chamwendo.
Previously Chamwendo has worked with many other artists inside and outside South Africa. He has worked with Gabriel Stuurman who produced and played for various acts like Siphokazi, Camagwini, Mafikizolo and Tshepo Tshola.
The new album was engineered by David Segal.
On Impilo Ka Ntanga, Fyah Ises featured the amazing duo - Csana and Ndamcel.
The album will be released in the first week of September 2019.
