Jay Cheeph
Jay Cheeph (born Luto Jabaza) is an artist from South Africa.
He started rapping since he was a minor, having been influenced by his Friends who were also in the business of making music.
Between 2014 and 2018, Jay Cheeph dropped three Singles & featured on more than twenty songs. But it was late 2019 when he decided to release his first body of work, WACK TAPE across all digital stores/platforms which has been admired by some listeners from all across the globe on Apple Music, Spotify(verified) and has managed to accumulate over 40000 SoundCloud plays in it's first year of release.
From early 2021 he has released his single 'Please' on all DSPs with a music video. January 2024 he has recently released a 7 track Extended Playlist titled 'Road To Xhap Cobain' on all digital stores/platforms which he has seen playlisted and has performed on some of SA's popular local TV and radio stations such as Cape Town TV, Bush Radio, Ingwane FM, etc prior to it's release. May 2024 he released his 2nd Music Video with Do Things Ent. titled 'Ninyile Braz'.
January 2025 he surprised his listeners with yet another sequel to his previous EP titled Xhap Cobain: The Opening.
01 May 2025 he hosted and headlined 'The Hype House' event at the Mthatha Art Centre and still looking to feature on even bigger platforms to help his brand grow and better himself.
Also establishing his other creative aspects he has since started working in the Film and Television Production industry and has worked on short and length film projects and has been involved in some live broadcasts for production companies and local TV broadcasters( e.g The Art Centre Show on Mpuma Kapa TV) as he now also started producing his own podcast namely 'A Game'.
He runs a small BBBEE enterprise namely 'Cheeph Group' that manages his creative career, services and skills he offers.
He is also an aspiring Fashion Model and has showcased for a couple of brands. He is still to further establish a solid network in the fashion exhibitions industry.
He has graced stages like the SEAfrica Conference 2019 in Soweto, Bhaqaza Fashion Experience 2021
in Mthatha, Over Xhap 2023 at the Mayfair Conference Hall in Mthatha just to name a few.
