Evaro de Abreu

Bio

Evaro Abreu is a cultural manager, producer and programmer, graphic and set designer.

Abreu studied Architecture and Urbanism in ISCTEM, but since childhood was already working unconsciously in the arts as a stage assistant in Theater. In 2015 he founded ESTÚDIO 5 ARQUITECTOS, and in 2016 created the project MAPUTO CINEMA FESTIVAL (which is a project to adapt abandoned spaces into cinemas rooms).

In 2017 he founded with other colleagues, GRUPO PFHUKA, which focuses on discovering and promoting new talents in the arts and with them created two projects: FESTIVAL MANINGUE (Festival of arts and culture for new Mozambican talents) and PFHUKA SESSIONS (Intimate live music sessions).

In 2018 he is called by 16Neto to be its Programmer and Cultural Producer, with the same goal of discovering and promoting new talent in the arts.

In 2019 he participated for the first time as an artist in a group exhibition and installation called RECONSTRUCTIONS, where he presented the work OS DANÇARINOS (digital illustrations
of traditional Mozambican dances with the augmented reality component inserted component inserted in them).

He also participated as a stage designer in the multidisciplinary performance and installation MUAVE, which was part of the program of FESTIVAL MAPUTO FAST FORWARD and in 2020 he was curator and participated as an artist (bringing the augmented reality component) in the interactive exhibition MURUMELI exhibition by Chris Inácio.
