60 Hertz Project

60 Hertz Project is a live band and musical production team formed in June 2009 in Ga‑Rankuwa, Pretoria, South Africa. The project was founded by Gosiame “BlackJean” Maodi a DJ, composer, and visionary artist and co‑founded by Siphiwe “SDK” Daniel Kumalo, the duo crafts soulful, forward‑thinking house music rooted in jazz, broken beats, lounge, and Afro rhythms. Together, they blend the energy of a DJ with the precision of a producer, shaping a sound that is both heritage‑driven and globally resonant.

Over the years, 60 Hertz Project has showcased their work on major platforms including KZN Music Imbizo 2018, Ekurhuleni Music Festival sharing stage with Black Coffee and the late Zahara, North West Jazz Festival and playing at the corporate events, year‑end functions, and private weddings.

A defining moment came when their tune “Capricorn” was introduced by DJ Christos and later signed by Ralf GUM on GOGO Music, cementing their place on the international stage. Their music has since received national and global airplay on Metro FM, Motsweding FM, Lesedi FM, Vuzu TV, Channel O, and Deeper Shades of House.

The band has collaborated with global artists such as Dolls Combers and FastVisionSoul, releasing standout projects like Mother Earth Calls Italy EP and the chart‑topping Capricorn EP remixed by Essential I, Ralf GUM, and QB Smith. Other acclaimed releases include Tapta Beach EP, remixed by Manoo and Trancemicsoul, featured on compilations curated by DJ Christos and Ralf GUM.

They have also delivered notable remixes for Jonny Montana, Vick Lavender, Dolls Combers, Mikki Afflick, and others. Their catalogue spans albums, EPs, singles, and remixes released through respected labels across the USA, UK, Germany, Italy, Brazil, and South Africa, including GOGO Music (Germany), Cabana Records (USA), Basement Art (RSA), High on Soul (Chicago), Grooveland Brazil, Daddy Funk Records (New York), Sophisticado (Italy), Camio Recordings, Soul Sun Soul (Brooklyn), Tribe Records (UK), House Garage (New York), and Dolls Combers Records (Italy).

In 2025, 60 Hertz Project appeared on the Traxsource Top 100 Broken Beats/NuJazz chart with three tracks: Jazz In Jupiter, Summer Days, and Broken Souls. And their single called "Space" hitting the Top 10 chart on Traxsource 2026.

In 2026, the band announced a limited edition run of 100 Limited vinyl LP handwritten copies of Music Hands EP, released under the Russian label Lacquer Pizza.
