Emeli Sandé
Bio
Emeli Sandé (born Adele Emily Sandé on 10 March in 1987 in the UK) is a British recording artist and songwriter. She was born to a Zambian father and English mother.
Emeli studied medicine at the University of Glasgow where she obtained a degree in neuroscience. She wrote her first song titled ‘Tomorrow Starts Again’ when she was 11 years old. Emeli hogged the limelight in 2009 after featuring on Chipmunk’s ‘Diamond Rings’ track. It was their first single to feature on the U.K. Singles Chart. In 2010 she featured on ‘Never Be Your Woman’ by the rapper Wiley. In 2010, she signed a record deal with Virgin Records and EMI Records in 2011. In 2012 she received the Brit Awards Critics' Choice Award.
In May 2013, she performed at the White House in Washington as one of the featured artists at the award ceremony when president Obama presented Carole King with the Library of Congress Gershwin Medal. She has written several songs such as ‘Pluto’ with Naughty Boy, ‘Enough’, ‘Call Me What You Like’, ‘You and Me’ and ‘This Much Is True’.
