Katongo Temba

Born in Mufulira, Zambia, to Bemba parents, Fredah and Nelson Temba, Katongo Temba is a Zambian artist who grew up in Britain. Her family moved to Hertfordshire, England when she was 11 years. She is singer and songwriter who began writing songs at a tender age of 11. She sings Afro-pop. While in England, she attended Primary School and then went onto attend John Henry Newman Catholic Secondary School in Stevenage. Katongo later obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in International Politics at Brunel University.

She is signed as a songwriter to Music Publishing Company SPEEGRA in the U.K.

In 2012, she released her debut EP titled 'My Way'. The self-released debut EP earned her a mark in the music industry. It was released on iTunes and from it she released her debut single 'Tonight'. The single has a video which received play on Channel O, ZNBC TV, Muvi TV and Vox Africa TV. The single peaked at number 17 on German music chart Oljo. It also received considerable radio play on radio stations in the U.K., Africa and North America.

In 2013, she took part in Simon Cowells, You Generation online Talent search. Her audition, titled Kat's audition on YouTube went viral within a few days.

Some of her popular songs include ‘Tonight’, ‘So Good’ and ‘Something Bout the Way’. ‘Tonight’ and ‘So Good’ enjoyed regular play on Amazing Radio, Nottingham 97.5, Kemet FM, Shoreditch Radio (England), Beat 99.9 FM (Nigeria) and Flava FM (Zambia). In 2014, her New single, ‘JOY’ which features popular Zambian artist JK, also received regular airplay on Naija FM, Beat 99.9 FM Nigeria and Zambia’s Power FM, Hot 87 FM, Flava FM and Q-FM.

Besides music, she spends time in philanthropy in support of the charity ‘Africans United Against Child Abuse’ (AFRUCA). She also started modelling in 2010 when she participated in and won a title at the 'Miss African Spirit' Beauty pageant U.K. She went on to feature in music videos and magazines and TV adverts. In 2014, she signed a modelling contract with Black Afro Queens Agency in the U.K.
