Ruby Gyang
Bio
Ruby Gyang is a Nigerian singer. From Benue state but bred in Plateau, a state in middle-belt Nigeria, Gyang was raised singing in the church choir. Some of her siblings and her mother sing as well. The church inspired her music and performance in adulthood. She claims American singer Mary J. Blige as influence.
Signed to Loopy Music, an imprint under rapper MI’s Chocolate City records, she has performed with Senegalese great Youssou N’dour. Her singing has attracted a number of rappers for whom she sings choruses and hooks. They include MI, Naeto C, ShowDemCamp and Mode 9.
She was nominated in the Best Alternative Song and Best Vocal Performance categories at the 2014 Headies. She is working on a debut album.
