Bio

Yanga Sobetwa is a South African singer and songwriter best known for her powerful vocals, emotional depth, and strong stage presence. Born on 17 May 2001 in Whittlesea, Eastern Cape, she rose to national prominence after winning Idols South Africa Season 14 in 2018, becoming one of the youngest winners in the show’s history.

 

Yanga’s musical journey began at a young age, influenced by gospel music and her upbringing in a church environment. Her natural talent and ability to convey raw emotion through music quickly set her apart. Her Idols win not only showcased her vocal strength but also highlighted her authenticity and relatability, earning her a loyal fan base across the country.

 

Following her victory, Yanga signed a recording deal and released her debut album Promised Land in 2019. The album featured a blend of Afro-soul, pop, and R&B influences and included the hit single “Ngithathe”, which became widely popular and cemented her position in the South African music industry.
