ENGLISH
Oumy Gueye, known by her stage name OMG, is a Senegalese singer and rapper.
Her name, OMG, stands for OuMy Gueye, and she identifies with a World Music style.
Of Lébou origin, she grew up in Bargny, a culturally rich working-class neighborhood. Immersed in a musical environment, she was influenced by her rapper uncle and her musician sister. From an early age, she began doing covers of artists like Mariah Carey and Celine Dion, which shaped her musical openness.
She took her first steps into music in 2010, performing at high school events and providing backing vocals for student rappers.
In 2012, she joined the label DD Records.
A year later, she released her debut single "Hey Girl". In 2014, she created the official anthem for the Dak’Art Biennale, followed by a string of singles.
In 2016, she released her first EP, "FEEM" (Femmes Engagées et Entreprenantes en Musique) in collaboration with Mamy Victory.
Her first solo project, "Zik De FAM", came out in 2017. That same year, she was a finalist for the RFI Discoveries Award, and again in 2018. She won Best Female Artist at the GHHA in 2017, 2018, and 2019.
In 2018, she also received the Best Female Singer award at the Raaya Music Awards.
2019 marked the release of her second EP, "Mélokaan".
In 2021, the collective project "5 Étoiles" was launched. That year, she was nominated at the AMA in the Best Francophone Artist category and became the first Senegalese artist to appear in the BET Cypher. She was also named "Woman of the Year" by Rap221.
In 2022, she released her first full-length album, titled "POSSIBLE".
As a prominent figure in the female urban music scene, OMG has become a key voice in a space where women often struggle to be heard.
Deeply committed, she uses her music to denounce domestic violence, rape, early pregnancy, and female genital mutilation. Alongside renowned African artists like Amadou & Mariam and Vieux Farka Touré, she contributes to "My Sahel", a project by OCHA (United Nations) addressing the Sahel crisis.
In 2023, she joined the special delegation of OCHA’s Office for Humanitarian Affairs at COP28 in Dubai. As the ambassador of the "My Sahel" project, she has taken a strong interest in climate issues in the region.
OMG has performed on international stages, including Africolor in Paris, FIMU in Belfort, FEMUA in Abidjan, Couleurs Métisses in Nouakchott, as well as in Belgium and The Gambia.
In 2024, she released a double EP: "Queen Mama" & "Oumy", and signed with KEYS, a French label. A new EP under this label is scheduled for December 2025. She was once again awarded the "Woman of the Year" title by Rap221.
