Desire Marea

Desire Marea is a KZN-based multi-disciplinary artist known for their work as one of the two founding members of South African Black Queer Art collective FAKA.

Desire has performed at prestigious International Music Festivals such as MELT! (Germany), Roskilde (Denmark), Ceremonia Festival (Mexico), Sonar Festival (Barcelona), Dark Mofo (Australia) and many more. They have created special compositions in collaboration with American fashion brand Telfar, that were staged at the Serpentine Pavilion in London and New York Fashion Week respectively. Their most notable accolade was the historical moment when Italian fashion house Versace commissioned FAKA to score their Spring Summer 2019 Menswear fashion show where the group was also invited as special guests. Desire has since embarked on a solo musical journey that saw them release their critically acclaimed solo album in January 2020. They continue to contribute to the progression of the Black Imagination.
