Victor Uwaifo
Bio
Sir Victor Uwaifo (Victor Efosa Uwaifo) is a Nigerian musician. Born in Benin City, Edo state, Uwaifo attended schools in Benin as well as Lagos. He picked up the guitar when he was 12. It would be the instrument with which he would make his mark. But at the time he played mostly pop songs based on his love for Spanish and Latin American music.
For tertiary education, he attended Yaba College of Technology, Lagos where he studied graphics. He then studied Fine and Applied Arts, majoring in Sculpture. He graduated with first class honours.
He is the first Nigerian artist to score a gold record. The record was the first in Africa to reach that mark. In 1983, he was bestowed a National Honours Merit award by the Nigerian government. He was the first professional artist to receive the honour. He has served as commissioner in his state.
In 2015, he released an album ‘Legend Reborn’. He also had a duet with 2face.
