Bio
Christopher William, best known as Silky Criss is a reggae and dancehall artist from The Gambia. He is also a songwriter who spends most of his time playing the guitar and painting. He draws his music inspiration from reggae icons like Garnet Silk, Morgan Heritage, Sizzla and Jah Cure.
He began his musical career in 2012 and recorded his debut single called ‘Genital Curse’. In December 2013, he dropped a mixtape titled ‘Words of Truth’. It features songs such as ‘Genital Curse’, ‘A Who Them’ and ‘Red Card’. The launch of the album was followed by a promotional tour which took him all the way to Senegal where he had the opportunity to perform, meet promoters, producers, artists and TV / radio presenters. His music video ‘Red Card’ was continuously played on RTS2 and was also nominated for top 5 videos on a show hosted by the artist FATA.
Silky has performed on different platforms of Gambian Music, ranging from Open Mic Festival, Fila Anniversary and Sunu Musico to album launchings. In 2014, he embarked on a nationwide tour, passing on his positive message to everyone in attendance. In November, 2015, he launched a career development scheme for students, lecturers and activists on the importance of career development while in school.
On 11 December 2015, he released and launched his debut album called ‘Reason’. The project features ten tracks and was recorded at JLive Music Studio. It was mixed and mastered by Ebee Road Studio in the U.S. The promotional singles on the album are ‘Taking Over’, ‘Green Light’, ‘Telephone’ and ‘Badder Than Them’. He did promotional tours of the album in the U.K. and Austria.
