Kwaisey Pee

Bio

Kwaisey Pee (Akwasi Opoku) is a Ghanaian highlife artist. Born into a family of music professionals—his first cousin is Rex Omar and father Agyaaku, who died in 2010—he started playing with various music bands early. First he joined his father’s band before moving on.

Sometime in the 1990s he travelled with his father to the UK. The experience made an impression on the man and left marks on his music. His first album ‘Krokro Me’ was released in 2000. ‘Akono Yaa’ and ‘Nyane Me’ followed four years later.

He is frequently compared to his compatriot the veteran Kojo Antwi, with whom he is said to share voice and a style which involves the blending of reggae and highlife.
