Beyoncé’s ‘Brown Skin Girl’ featuring Nigerian Afrobeats star Wizkid has been nominated in the Best Musical Moment category ahead of the 2021 MTV Movie and TV Awards, which will air live from the Palladium in Los Angeles on 16 and 17 May.
Now in their 29th edition, the awards recognise outstanding achievements in film and television. The Best Musical Moment category is one of two publicly voted categories – with the other being Best Music Documentary.
‘Brown Skin Girl’ was nominated alongside ‘Lost in the Wild’ (The Kissing Booth 2), ‘Stand by Me’ (Love & Monsters), ‘Beginning Middle End’ (To All the Boys: Always and Forever), ‘Wildest Dreams’ (Bridgerton), ‘I Wanna Rock’ (Cobra Kai), ‘Edge of Great (Julie and the Phantoms) and ‘Agatha All Along’ (WandaVision).
“@Beyonce @SAINtJHN @wizkidayo Congratulations,” the MTV Movie and TV Awards wrote in a tweet. “‘Brown Skin Girl’ from Black Is King is nominated for Best Musical Moment at the #MTVAwards!”
