Whip Music Africa and Boomplay launch artist training programme
Talent marketplace Whip Music Africa has partnered with music streaming platform Boomplay to offer free training for artists.
Whip, backed by Google for Startups, offers a comprehensive range of services designed to cater to artists’ diverse needs. The company boasts a unified catalogue that offers over 70 services, spanning playlisting, distribution, marketing, blog features, social media and production.
According to a press statement released this week, the initiative called How to Grow on Boomplay will specifically support emerging artists in building their careers, leveraging the infrastructure of both companies to empower participants with requisite insights to level up their music careers.
The workshop will teach participating creatives skills to build a passionate fanbase, how to reach a wider audience and how to ignite success on the streaming platform.
Applications are currently ongoing here.
“Whip’s primary goal is to help artists get their music heard,” Whip founder and CEO Melissa Kariuki said. “A key aspect of that is equipping artists with the skills and know-how to strategically grow their music careers. This free training is a unique educational opportunity that we hope African artists leverage to upskill themselves and keep sharing African music with the world.”
For Boomplay, which has over 90 million active users, the collaboration adds to a growing list of strategic partnerships to boost artists’ careers. Just last month, the DSP joined forces with global short-form video hosting service TikTok to explore the cross-promotion of trending content on both platforms via mutual playlists and content discovery.
