Debbie Asila, of the all-girl trio Tatuu, has relocated to the US. At one time she was a presenter on Kiss FM and also worked in the marketing department of the Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK).
Tatuu is made up of Angie 'Rabbo' Ndambuki, Debbie Asila and Angela 'Shinde' Mwandanda. They were dubbed the Ogopalets after their producer, Ogopa Deejays. They met in 1999 at Phoenix Theatre, where they were both acting. They featured on Nameless’ videos for ‘Mannerless’, ‘Megarider’ and ‘Majitu’.
Their first hit with Ogopa Deejays was ‘Teso’, released in 2003. Their other songs include ‘Haiya’, ‘Songea’, ‘Solophobia’,’Napepea’, and ‘Parapanda’.
Debbie has a daughter with popular Kiss FM’s breakfast co-host, Shaffie Weru. It is not yet clear whether she is relocating to pursue her music career as a solo artist or for other pursuits.
