SABC calls on aspiring DJs
The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) is inviting all unsigned DJs and producers to participate in the fourth edition of the Masters of Spin South Africa competition.
Titled 1’s and 2’s, season 4 of this music reality TV show will be aired on SABC 1 every Tuesday from 16 May and onwards.
The SABC, together with South Africa’s Top DJs, producers and music industry icons, will conduct the first round of auditions later in March.
According to the show’s Facebook page, people had already started applying. “We have already received and vetted hundreds of entries for Season 4 of 1's and 2's and as expected the talent just keeps coming,” a post read.
“If you want to enter this year, please enter online as soon as possible. We guarantee that every online entry will be listened to, but we cannot guarantee that every person who arrives at the live auditions will get an opportunity.”
To be part of the competition, interested participants should meet the following criteria:
- Must be over 18 years of age and in possession of a valid South African ID document.
- Must be able to play and mix on CD jays.
- Must be able to produce music and have produced a full track for auditions that has not been signed by or to a third party.
- Must be available to appear for shoot filming between March and August 2017.
- Must have no existing contracts in terms of ownership or rights to any music.
Aspiring DJs have also been asked to enter online. According to SABC 1’s Twitter account, contestants are judged during the show and at the end of the season a Master of Spin will be chosen. The winner will receive a cash prize and the Master of Spin title.
The 1’s and 2’s TV show was founded in 2014 and is produced by I Love That Productions.
