SA: Red Bull Music Studios launch virtual collabos
Red Bull Music Studios have launched a virtual collaboration for artists to remotely record music from their home studios.
Titled 'Red Bull Made in 72 Hours', the concept series brings three artists who will fuse their styles on a single song.
The first instalment of Red Bull Made in 72 Hours is titled ‘Mind Games’ and features Not Benjamin, Mark Akol and Nalu remixing Afro-jazz act Kujenga’s ‘Lost With You’. The second round comprises Gina Jeanz, Hersh Snyders and Juzzy CPT, who will be tasked to rework a Hunter Rose track.
Gina Jeanz is a creative powerhouse who is fast establishing herself as a producer in South Africa. Her technical exploration of sound evokes emotion with her skilfully produced tracks and curated mixes. Hersh Snyders is a Cape Town-based songwriter and producer who is no stranger to Red Bull Studios. Completing the trio is Juzzy CPT, a producer and performer who has crossed the borders of South Africa, performing in the UK and showcasing his eclectic style of music.
“With collaboration in person not being possible during this time, Red Bull Music Studios is committed to giving artists a platform to engage with one another while collaborating on music and exploring their creativity,” the studios said.
“The first artist is sent a track that was recorded at Red Bull Music Studios Cape Town to add their part, which is then sent to the second artist to add theirs and finally to the third artist to round up the collaboration, which is then mixed and mastered at Red Bull Studios in Cape Town. Each artist has 24 hours to add their part to the track, which will then be released to the public.”
Red Bull Music Studios intends to record four songs in total, which will be featured on an EP set for release in May.
