RedRed drops new single and video featuring Sarkodie
RedRed, a collaborative musical project between M3nsa, one-half of innovative Ghanaian duo FOKN Bois, and Elo, Budapest’s seasoned DJ/producer and instrumentalist, has released a hot new track titled ‘Ghetto’.
The song, prepared in Budapest, Hungary is RedRed's latest single and features top Ghanaian rap artiste Sarkodie. Woven with introspective lyrics, it’s a production masterclass fusing dance music influences from both artists’ European and African connections, including 90s house, warbling basslines and dreamy synths.
‘Ghetto’ was released on Thursday 2 April 2015 along with its sensational dance-themed video, shot on the streets of Accra by Bubi Cooke of Infoboxdaily. In depicting a natural ghetto scene, the cast and crew for the video comprised of over 50 people, including cameos by some of Ghana's talented artists, such as Wanlov the Kubolor (M3nsa’s FOKN Bois bandmate) and Pappy Kojo, among others. It took two days to shoot the video.
Elo previously worked with FOKN Bois in 2012 on ‘Dunaquest In Budapest’, which saw them tour both Europe and Ghana. He is also known for his work with Irie Maffia and Sena. In an interview with Ismail Akwei of Ghanaweb, Elo expressed his love for Ghana and Ghanaian music, saying that he has been to Ghana four times since 2008 and already has some of his family in the country.
M3nsa meanwhile assured Ghanaians to expect crazier music from this intercontinental duo. In case you were wondering, Redred is the name of a popular dish in Ghana made from black-eyed peas, named after the combination of red pepper and red palm oil and usually served with fried plantains.
