Nigeria: TuneCore and CSN Media announce workshop for female creatives
Global independent digital music distribution, publishing and licensing company TuneCore has partnered with Nigeria-based Cheche Smith Nation (CSN) media for the Her Sound initiative on 28 and 29 October in the West African country.
Targeted at local independent female artists, producers and songwriters, the campaign, according to organisers, represents a significant step towards creating a more inclusive and equitable environment for women in African music.
This initiative, dedicated to breaking down barriers and amplifying the voices of aspiring female creatives, seeks to equip young women with the knowledge and resources necessary to unlock their full potential.
It comprises educational programmes led by top female music executives and media personalities. Additionally, it offers carefully curated mentorship and networking opportunities to equip young music industry women with the tools to excel in this fiercely competitive field. “This innovative partnership goes beyond knowledge transfer,” a statement reads. “It fosters a sense of unity and community among aspiring female artists and creatives, recognising that solidarity and support are fundamental to achieving authentic success.”
“Her Sound is more than just a workshop; it’s a seismic force for change,” TuneCore head for West and East Africa Chioma Onuchukwu said about the partnership. “We are firmly committed to empowering aspiring female artists with essential skills, unwavering confidence and steadfast support on their journey to success.”
CSN Media CEO CheChe Smith added: “We believe in the African spirit of greatness and its potential to shape the future of the global music industry. Our dedication to nurturing this greatness aligns seamlessly with TuneCore’s global brand presence and industry influence. Together, we are planting the seeds of greatness to cultivate powerful female voices resonating worldwide.”
