As part of the initiative, Madi has released an exclusive cover of Miley Cyrus’ ‘Wrecking Ball’ for Alpha, Apple Music’s all-genre playlist celebrating women’s empowerment.
Launched in 2024, Alpha spotlights female artists who redefine strength and creativity across various genres. This year, Apple Music has enlisted 11 rising female artists to reinterpret songs by influential women in music. Madi’s rendition of ‘Wrecking Ball’ brings a fresh perspective to the emotional ballad, fusing her signature sound with its powerful themes.
“To me, ‘Wrecking Ball’ represents strength in vulnerability,” Madi told Apple Music. “There’s this idea that being strong means never breaking, never showing emotions, but real strength is being able to feel everything deeply and still rise above it. Women go through so much—personally, professionally, emotionally—but we always find a way to rebuild, to come back stronger. This song is about embracing every part of that journey, and that’s what makes it such a powerful statement for women’s empowerment.”
Madi recalled first hearing ‘Wrecking Ball’ at the age of 10 and being drawn to its raw emotion. Covering the song now, she described the opportunity as a “full-circle moment” in her artistic journey.
Reflecting on her influences, Madi cited Brandy, Tems, Beyoncé, and Billie Eilish as artists who have shaped her musical approach. She praised Brandy’s vocal abilities, Tems’ role in elevating African women globally, Beyoncé’s unmatched artistry and work ethic, and Eilish’s fearless individuality.
“These women have paved the way in different ways, and they all remind me to stay true to myself and keep pushing forward,” she said.
