Nigeria: Paulino YQ drops Hunger Dreaming Africa album
Nigerian artist Paulino YQ has released his highly anticipated album Hunger Dreaming Africa, a powerful exploration of the struggles and aspirations of the continent.
Speaking to Music In Africa, Paulino YQ shared the inspiration behind his latest project, saying: “The incredible strength and perseverance of African communities in the face of challenges is exactly what inspired me to produce and release Hunger Dreaming Africa.
The album tackles both literal and metaphorical hunger, addressing food insecurity while also yearning for justice, equality, and the fulfilment of dreams. Paulino YQ hopes this duality will encourage fans to reflect on both immediate and long-term challenges facing Africa.
Paulino YQ’s approach to creating his sound was focused on connecting with fans on an emotional and intellectual level, exploring themes of resilience, hope, and African identity. He wants fans to take away a sense of hope and inspiration. “I want the theme to resonate with my fans as a reminder of the importance of maintaining hope, even in the darkest moments,” he said.
The album features collaborations with various artists, including Ceejay, Storm, Rod Melle, Mtoto, and Buhle. While Paulino YQ is excited about the entire album, he mentions ‘Lie Down Pon Me’ and ‘The Hustle’ as standout tracks.
Hunger Dreaming Africa is a call to action, urging fans to dream boldly and take action to create a better world. “The album must resonate particularly with my younger audiences, urging them to dream boldly and take action to create a future that aligns with those dreams.”
