The four-track project introduces Braye as a powerful new voice in Nigeria’s alternative music scene, blending alt-R&B, neo-soul, and touches of jazz and indie. Described as a “sonic diary”, the EP explores themes of longing, love, and reflection through a mixture of stripped-down ballads and layered, cinematic arrangements.
“This EP is me trying to make sense of the things I didn’t say, the time I can’t get back, and the emotions I couldn’t express in the moment,” Braye said. “It’s for anyone who has ever wished they could press pause or rewind on life.”
Tracks such as ‘Stuck’ and ‘Slipping Out of Time’ highlight his poetic songwriting and ethereal vocal delivery, while ‘I Wish I Had More Time’ and ‘Bring You Home’ showcase his production skills and ability to create immersive soundscapes.
Born and raised in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, Braye represents a new generation of artists who defy genre boundaries in favour of emotional authenticity. A self-taught musician, he draws influence from artists including Amy Winehouse, Frank Ocean, Asa, Bon Iver, Ray Charles, and Bob Marley, yet maintains a distinctive sound.
I Wish I Had More Time marks the beginning of what Braye hopes will be a meaningful connection with listeners. “I’m not just putting out music, I’m sharing my world,” he said.
