Nigeria: Listen to Tim Lyre’s Real single
Nigerian Afro-fusion artist Tim Lyre today shared his new single ‘Real’. The song is available on all major digital platforms.
The track, released on Outer South, is the singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer’s first release of 2021, and heralds his upcoming debut album Worry <.
The record sits at the intersection between neo-soul and Afrofuturism, and witnesses a slow, distinct blend of instruments to achieve a dynamic and emotive sound.
“‘Real’ is a song about the emotional nuances between two people in a relationship or situationship, as it were,” Tim Lyre said. “It’s an attempt to say all the things typically left unsaid.”
Building a growing fanbase in Nigeria, Ghana and South Africa, Tim Lyre is considered integral to the alté renaissance. He is behind alternative Afro-influenced releases like the Senpai EP, which features MOJO, PrettyboyDO and AYLØ. The EP was recently added by Tems on her Africa Month playlist for Apple Music.
Tim Lyre boasts more than 1 million streams across digital platforms and has worked with the likes of Fasina, July Drama and Minz.
Worry < will see the budding Lagos artist explore neo-soul, Afrobeats, downtempo and trip hop. The project was mixed by Sam Harper, who worked on Wizkid’s Made in Lagos, and was mastered by the Grammy-nominated engineer Frank Merritt at The Carvery Studios in London.
