Nigeria: Emerging artist Amara makes solo debut with new single

Produced by acclaimed Nigerian hitmaker Ozedikus, ‘Me & You’ is a feel-good love song that pairs smooth percussion with tender melodies and heartfelt lyrics. Sung in a blend of English, Yoruba, and Pidgin, the track introduces the Sony Music signee’s distinct sonic identity and sets the stage for his upcoming conceptual EP, Qupid – a six-track exploration of love, heartbreak, and emotional growth.

The track is the opening song from Qupid, a conceptual body of work inspired by personal reflections on love and heartbreak. While the full EP explores emotional highs and lows, ‘Me & You’ sets a lighter, more joyful tone, offering a glimpse into the artist’s softer side and musical versatility.

“‘Me & You’ is about gratitude for that one person who brings you peace,” Amara said. “It’s about cherishing love that feels safe and real. This song is my way of saying thank you to love itself, and to everyone who’s ever felt seen by someone else.”

Though this is Amara’s first solo offering, his music is already generating buzz, thanks in part to his consistent release of stripped-back covers on social media. His soulful renditions of Afrobeats, R&B, and pop hits have showcased both his vocal talent and storytelling ability. These performances have now been formalised into a branded cover series aimed at driving discovery, enhancing algorithmic reach, and building sustained engagement with fans.

Aside singing, Amara has penned hits for prominent Afropop artists such as Joeboy, Kelvin Jones, Adekunle Gold, Mayorkun, and Gyakie. “Writing for others gave me the courage to find my voice. With this single, I’m ready to show the world who I am,” he said.
