The performance, set to take place in the Goethe-Institut auditorium in Windhoek at 6pm, is free to attend and includes a complimentary drink. The production explores the dynamic interaction between music and movement, blending contemporary and traditional elements to create a new form of expression.
“A duo concert by a Japanese pianist and a Namibian dancer is a rare and valuable form of international exchange,” Yukako Yamano said. “There’s no doubt that we will be moved by the birth of a new form of art.”
The performance will combine elements of jazz and classical music with contemporary dance styles influenced by Herero traditions. The collaboration seeks to transcend the artistic boundaries of each discipline, offering audiences a fresh and thought-provoking experience.
“I’m really looking forward to exchanging ideas around sound and the body in their raw form, especially in exploring different artistic approaches and how they come together from an international perspective. There’s something exciting about seeing different worlds merge,” said Uzera.
Gift Uzera is a respected Namibian performer and interdisciplinary artist whose work spans dance, theatre, music, and film.
