Call for scores: Composition competition in Germany
German organisation Unternehmen Gegenwart is calling on music composers around the world to submit their scores for the fourth edition of its composition competition in Regensburg, Germany, this year.
The competition is aimed at composers of all ages who compose new works and premier them in Regensburg. This year’s contest will run under the theme Nahsicht (near vision). In the past three editions, more than 200 new works were submitted for the city of Regensburg.
The prizes for the winners will include the following:
- First place: €1 500 ($2 000)
- Second place: €1 000
- Third place: €500
The compositions must meet the following criteria:
- The composition must be related to the theme.
- The score must be freely selectable.
- The performance time for the composition should not be more than six minutes.
- Only one composition per composer.
- If the score that is set to be composed is not a non-public domain material, the right of use must be available for the performance and publication.
- The submitted composition may neither be published nor awarded a prize in another competition.
Conditions of participation:
The competition will be conducted anonymously and the following documents must be submitted:
- The score must be in six copies, bound and legible without attribution.
- A registration form with the name, address, telephone and e-mail address of the composer and the title of the submitted composition is required.
- A short biography of the composer with a photo.
- Composers must declare their consent to radio and television recordings as well as recordings on sound and image media, including their duplication, in connection with the competition. Any rights shall be transferred to the organisers upon acceptance of the conditions of participation in the composition competition.
- The organisers are not responsible for any loss or damage of the submitted documents.
- The submitted documents will not be returned.

The closing date for submissions is 31 May.
The winners will be announced in August, and a concert in celebration of the winners will be held on 25 September 2021.
