
Call for applications: Nigeria Youth Futures Fund 2022
LEAP Africa, in partnership with the MacArthur Foundation and the Ford Foundation, is inviting applications for the 2022 Nigeria Youth Futures Fund (NYFF).

NYFF was established to provide targeted capacity building, youth ecosystem building and financial support to burgeoning youth-led movements in Nigeria, in order to sustain their work locally and facilitate opportunities for learning. The grant focuses on the thematic areas of media, sport and entertainment; employment and education; health; peacebuilding and security; ICT and entrepreneurship; climate change and environment; and civic participation.
Eligibility criteria
Individual level
The beneficiary must:
- Be 15 to 35 years old, with a proven track record, working on a sustainable solution that directly addresses any of the seven thematic areas.
- Demonstrate a good understanding and experience of strategic planning, vision setting and project management.
- Demonstrate experience and knowledge of community or team building following principles of honesty and integrity.
- Demonstrate talent and passion for new ways of behaving, norms and actions.
- Have genuine means of identification or be attached to an institution.
- Supply a police clearance report and provide 3 reputable referees.
Organisation level
The organisation must:
- Be a formally registered organisation with the corporate affairs commission of Nigeria. Otherwise, an unregistered organisation can form a cluster and apply through a registered organisation.
- Have a partnership capacity in all the states in their geopolitical region.
- Have police clearance, tax clearance and SCUML certificate.
- Must have good antecedents and proper track records.
- Be involved in youth-driven transformation activities, civic and transformation hub depending on the grant category, working on sustainable solutions directly addressing any of the agreed thematic areas.
- Must have a physical address and corporate account with good financial standing and records.
Grant types
- Small Grant ($500 to $1 000): This grant type is for 60 beneficiaries (individuals).
- Action Grant ($1 000 to $3 000): For 40 grassroots and community-based organisations.
- Development Grant ($3 000 to $6 000): For 25 youth-led and youth-focused organisations.
- Catalytic Grant ($40 000): For six civic and innovation hubs focusing on youth-oriented activities across Nigeria.
Note: The first grant cycle will run from June to December 2022.
The application deadline is 6 June.
