Call for applications: Hub@Goethe mentorship programme in SA
Goethe-Institut South Africa is calling on individuals or organisations operating as cultural or social entrepreneurs to apply for the Hub @Goethe mentorship programme in Johannesburg from 1 May to 31 October.
The call is open to all creatives, innovators, developers and entrepreneurs above the age of 18 with specific cultural and sustainable projects.
The application deadline is 8 March and applicants should fill in all the necessary information here.
Shortlisted candidates will be informed via email and are required to attend an interview in March. The interview will include a five- to 10-minute pitch on their start-up venture. Selected candidates will be notified by 31 March.
Eligibility
- Only entrepreneurs running start-up ventures that are cultural or have a strong social entrepreneurship dimension need to apply.
- The applicant's business should be in ideation phase, i.e. not older than 18 months.
- Applicants should have a turnover of less than R100 000 ($7 000) annually.
- The applicant's business should be registered or formalised in some manner.
- Entrepreneurs should be able to commit to work from the hub at least three days a week.
Benefits
Hub @Goethe does not only offer a workstation. Here’s what members should expect during the mentorship period:
- Entrepreneur support and development. The hub constitutes a six-month entrepreneur development programme. This includes one-on-one and group mentorship, events, round-table discussions, workshops and interventions by top business leaders and coaches in the ecosystem.
- Hub @Goethe is aimed at building a creative and start-up community. Members will be part of a vibrant community of like-minded creative entrepreneurs who will share ideas and find solutions to motivate and inspire.
- Fully equipped workspace, including a round boardroom table, meeting and presentation space, two flat screens, lounge area and an unlimited high-speed Internet connection.
- Members working on game development projects may use the Gamebox to develop, test and showcase their games.
- Hub @Goethe is located inside the Goethe-Institut Johannesburg library, which members may use for a small yearly fee. There is also a cafeteria with a range of meals and snacks.
- Members will have an opportunity to give back to the community through participating in eSkills Connect, a project that brings together diverse individuals to gain and share basic digital literacy skills.
