The programme is designed for applicants from the Global South, the Middle East and (Central) Asia who want to work professionally in the music field or want to make their musical talent more target-oriented. The programme will also help experienced applicants to reach the next level.
The scholarship, which is courtesy of Pop-Kultur Festival in cooperation with Goethe-Institut, offers a variety of activities to experience the music scene in Berlin in the run-up to the festival through studio visits, intensive jam sessions, short traineeships in selected companies of Berlin’s creative industries, listening sessions. This will also include meetings with scholarship holders of Musicboard Berlin GmbH and former alumni of past Goethe Talents editions, visiting concerts and other activities.
Networking will be a big part of the experience. The focus this year will be on the studio times, which will give the selected participants the opportunity to engage in direct acoustic exchange in order to learn from and with each other. Furthermore, participants will be joining the Pop-Kultur Nachwuchs programme taking place from 30 August to 1 September in Berlin, where international professionals will give personal insights into their work and share knowledge through workshops, case studies and talks with participants – lively and interactive instead of dry and read off.
Once more, the programme offers places to eight talents from all over the world, enabling them to network across borders. In addition, participants will get a chance to perform on the Nachwuchs stage on one of the evenings of the Pop-Kultur Live programme.
Additionally, the organisers will provide special nights for artists’ performances to a public audience. An expert jury will select eight talents for the sought-after spots in the programme and inform the applicants until the end of May.
Goethe-Institut will cover the following:
- The participation fee, accommodation, travel expenses, hospitality (per diem) for the period of 24 August to 4 September will be covered by the Goethe-Institut.
- Goethe-Institut will also book and pay for flights and will help with visa issues.
