Call for applications: Goethe-Institut South Africa project coordinator
The Goethe-Institut South Africa is looking for a project coordinator to head its Cav’ Townships Project for Creative Entrepreneurs.
The position is full time (40 hours per week) and the successful candidate will start from 1 February until 31 December with the option to renew the contract for another year.
The Cav’ Township project is run by the Goethe-Institut South Africa and is aimed at empowering creative practitioners and entrepreneurs by working with existing hubs and centres in townships to implement programmes in the field of creative entrepreneurship.
This phase of the project consists of the following tasks:
- Managing relationships with partner hubs and participants and implementing the project further with partner hubs.
- Building and maintaining relationships with existing and new partners.
- Developing and implementing plans with corporate stakeholders.
- Developing training content and formats.
- Conceptualising, organising and implementing network meetings.
- Administering funds and participants' grants.
- Budget monitoring and project reporting.
- Handling internal communication of the project with all stakeholders and with the PR manager.
- Attending events, expos, forums and conferences related to the project.
- Performing the day-to-day administrative duties of the project and other duties as needed.
Requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualification (diploma/degree in cultural/social sciences, etc.).
- Additional qualification in business-related degrees is an advantage.
- Minimum three (3) years relevant work experience.
- Strong project management, coordination and organisational skills.
- Excellent networking skills.
- Good knowledge of township economies and cultural entrepreneurship.
- Familiarity with the South African township (economies) and preferably existing network of relevant contacts.
- Excellent written skills in English (other South African languages desirable).
- Ability to communicate in German is an advantage.
- Systematic and analytical thinking.
- Highly proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Flawless attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and flexible hours when necessary.
- Flexibility, reliability and resilience.
- Ability to travel.
- Ability to work fulltime at the office space provided by the Goethe-Institut Johannesburg.
- Non-South African applicants need to have a valid work permit for South Africa.
