Apple Music selects FREDDY L for Up Next programme in SA
Apple Music has named South African indie trio FREDDY L as the latest act to be featured in its Up Next artist development programme in South Africa.

The initiative highlights emerging artists identified by Apple Music’s global editorial team, providing additional exposure through curated playlists and promotional support.
FREDDY L said the selection marked a milestone in their career.
“We’re beyond proud to be selected for Apple Music Up Next South Africa,” the group said. “This is a huge moment for us.
“None of this would happen without the people who’ve been listening, sharing, and showing up from day one. This is theirs as much as it is ours, and we want everyone to know that we're just getting started.”
The trio added that the recognition follows the release of their debut album, Roadside Assistance.
“We've built this from nothing but our brotherhood and belief, and after the release of our debut album, Roadside Assistance, Up Next is our springboard to the new chapter,” they said.
FREDDY L’s music blends elements of alternative rock and indie, with a focus on narrative-driven songwriting. Their debut album explores themes including identity, movement and relationships, combining live instrumentation with layered production.
As part of the programme, the group will be featured on Apple Music’s Up Next playlist, which showcases emerging artists from across different genres.
The Up Next initiative has previously highlighted a number of internationally recognised artists, including Billie Eilish, Khalid, Burna Boy and Tems.
The inclusion of FREDDY L places the group among a cohort of emerging acts selected for global exposure through the platform.
