Zile Zondo – Artist Bio
Zile Zondo is a proudly South African musician, poet, and multidisciplinary performer whose work radiates the spirit, sensuality, and soul of her homeland. With a voice that carries both fire and tenderness, Zile has created her own genre—words on strings—a rich fusion of African jazz, Mbaqanga, traditional Zulu melodies, nursery rhymes, poetry, and soulful storytelling.
Her debut single "Khetha Khetha" (2025) is a flirtatious yet firm love song, where Zile embodies a woman standing in her power—demanding honesty, clarity, and depth. Her music, deeply rooted in Zulu culture and womanhood, is both contemporary and ancestral, drawing listeners into a soundscape where healing and sensuality meet. She has also featured on a number of collaborative projects with celebrated musicians, lending her voice and words to compositions that span genres and generations.
Zile’s artistry stretches far beyond the microphone. Her poetic work features in the powerful short film Uhlanga: The Mark, and she began her performance journey in industrial theatre with Amanguni Productions, using storytelling to educate and transform communities.
A seasoned traveler, Zile has toured internationally with spectacular productions like Mother Africa and Cirque Africa, captivating global audiences with her stage magnetism. She has also graced the stage in groundbreaking works such as Amawethu by Luyanda Sidiya, Ebuthongweni and Ndoni by Musa Hlatshwayo—projects that have allowed her to explore themes of healing, identity, and ancestral memory through music, dance, and performance.
Zile Zondo is more than a performer—she is a vessel. Her voice, words, and presence create safe, sacred spaces for audiences to feel, reflect, and remember. Whether on international stages or in intimate local settings, Zile continues to carry the rhythm, fire, and stories of Africa—wherever she goes.
