Zama Afrika

Zama-Sango Bongoza known as Zama Afrika is a singer, song-writer. She was born in Umthatha on the 23rd of March 1995, her hometown is Idutywa and she grew up in PE. She went to Laerskool Excelsior and Hoerskool Andrew Rabie. She grew up being inspired by the likes of Lebo Mathosa and Brenda Fassie. Her all time favorite artists, however, are Celine Dion and Zonke. Her mother always knew she was talented, so she made her join the school choir in primary, modeling competitions, singing competitions and she participated in sport. She sang during assembly, school shows and won her first competition in grade 11 "Rabie's Got Talent". 

Her music career started in 2014 when she got signed by Native Unit 10 production which is based in Motherwell, Port Elizabeth, by Aaron Mleve and Lopi Mpondo releasing deep house songs Rain and Cry. Rain and Cry was later featured in DJ Mozent's album. Through them she got signed by a small recording label BM Entertainment in Johannesburg but due to personal reasons the contract got terminated. She took a break from performing in 2015 to find herself and also expand her knowledge in Music and studied Music Education at the Nelson Mandela University in which she obtained a Diploma in Music Education on the 8th of April 2019. While she was studying she was part of the Nelson Mandela University Choir where she went to Macau, China, 2015. She was also part of the Africa Sounds ensemble and Lathitha Marimba.

She got back on her feet as a musician and become Zama Afrika in 2018 where she teamed up with Dominic "Stevie Wonder" Hans who played the keyboard for her and became part of Afrogrooves SA. Amongst many gigs she opened up for Zonke in her L.O.V.E Album launch in PE 2018. 

In November 2019 she got approached by a label based in Johannesburg. Unfortunately she terminated the contract due to not being happy with the contract. She then worked with Delisa Mazibuzo releasing her single "Saph'uthando" on the 8th of October 2020.

This year she and King Bizza Keys worked tirelessly on the completion of her EP which should be released soon.
