YPa

Young Paradisian (born Elvis Owusu) is a rapper, producer and songwriter from Accra, Ghana. His family is originally from Obo, a town on the Kwahu mountain. Born in 1995, Elvis grew up in Darkuman, Accra. He attended Romma Basic school from pre-school to middle school. Even though he had an interest in General Arts, he went on to read General Science at Accra Academy for his High School education, at the behest of his parents. He started writing his own songs at age 15, on orientation day at Accra Academy. He was studying Bachelor's Degree Computer Science at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) but dropped out in third year for undisclosed reasons in 2017. Elvis joined the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) in August 2018.

Because of his timid attitude and habit of waving off a conversation before it starts, his grade school friends called him "Wiper". Then in 2009, a year before entering High School, Elvis became one of Jehovah's Witnesses and coined the name "Young Paradisian" to hint his faith. His High School friends eventually shortened it to "YPa". YPa's rap style is mainly Conscious Hiphop. He draws inspiration from Wiz Khalifa, Ty Dolla $ign, Eminem and Wale. He has a playful, nasal voice when he sings and a rapid-but-not-choppy style of rap, although he has been noted to have a wide vocal range, switching from a breaking bass to a tiny squeaky falsetto at will. He names blue and claret as his favorite colors. His fashion choice is usually "open shirt, hidden chest" as he calls it.

Over the years, Elvis' (He playfully spells it LVx) personality traits have switched from Phlegmatic Sanguine to Choleric Sanguine. He used to be the laid back, funny guy. But lately, he has become quick to take the stage and maintains a humble but witty nature. In terms of personal philosophy, YPa calls himself a theocratic egalitarian, believing that all creatures are equal with the creator above all.
