Yasha Mani

Yasha Mani, born Carla Hobson, is a Trinidadian reggae artist and international cultural ambassador celebrated for her spiritual lyrics and “rootical” vibrations. Her stage name, given under the guidance of a Rastafarian elder, reflects her mission: “Yasha” means protector or deliverer, while “Mani” refers to the Kingdom, inspired by Shashamane.

Early Life & Education

Raised by a seaman father and a homemaker mother, Yasha Mani was a shy child who blossomed into self-expression during adolescence. She earned a degree in marketing from Morgan State University in Maryland, USA, and worked as a radio and TV announcer before committing fully to her music career.

Musical Career

Yasha Mani identifies as a “Messenger” within reggae, using her music to convey themes of peace, love, and Rastafarian spirituality. Though she began her professional music journey later than many, her powerful vocals and dynamic live band performances quickly gained attention. Her early composition “Soul Jah”, written in 2014, was officially released in 2020.

She has toured internationally, performing across South Africa—including appearances at the Paarl Reggae Festival—and has secured radio and live bookings in Amsterdam and the United Kingdom. In 2026, she was formally recognised by Music Africa Awake in Nigeria as an International Reggae Ambassador, affirming her influence and contribution to the global reggae community.
