Bio

Walton Wray is a Sierra Leonean reggae and Afrobeats artist.

He holds a B.A honours in political science. As of 2019, he was a final year law student at the Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone.

His music is a mixture of uplifting contemporary reggae, socially conscious nu-roots and afro beats, with his influence ranging from Peter Tosh, Bob Marley, Fela Kuti, Buju Bantan, Samini and M.anifest.

He launched his career in 2016 by releasing his first single “No Sorry Sorry” which was followed by a string of mind blowing releases ranging from the fan favourite “Wray Don Kam” to the controversial “Pa Dis Style”, which is a social commentary that focuses mainly on the injustice and corruption which plagued the Sierra Leonean society at the time of its release.

2018 saw the release of his debut reggae project 'Baby Yu Na Me Yone' off the Reggae Fest Rhythm by Jamaican Grammy nominated producer DJ Frass and which was also covered by other artists ranging from the Jamaican Tarrus Riley, to the Ghanaian reggae star Samini. This song hit the number one spot of the African Young Voices TV Top 20 Salone music chart and gained massive replay on both major radio and T.V stations around Sierra Leone. Wray continued to earn plaudit for his music with multiple nominations in the music category of Sierra Leone’s National Entertainment Award Best New Act in music and Reggae/Dancehall Act.

In 2018, he went on to stage his first musical concert dubbed Wrayggae Fest Jam at the Historic Quincy’s (formerly known as Paddy’s) where he pulled what was recorded as the biggest crowd for a musical concert at the venue for the past 5 years and also performed alongside the Music & Music Entertainment Band.

Wray went on to grace the stage of some of the most prestigious musical festivals in Sierra Leone: the Freetown Music Festival and the Make Salone Music Festival. He is set to release another album in 2019.
