Bio
Wilhelmina John, popularly known as Willie J, is a Sierra Leonean recording artist and songwriter. She was born in Freetown, Sierra Leone, and grew up performing since she was at The Annie Walsh Memorial School. At the age of 17 she joined her first group called G.P.N.C (Grand Papa n Crew) where she was called "The Grandmama". She took part and won in inter-secondary school rap competitions.
In 1998, She and her friends Mackie, Groovy H and Eazy Zee formed a musical group called Queens Of Melody, which was later called Sisters With Attitude (SWA). By the end of the 90s, the act had begun to tour.
In 2005, Willie decided to pursue a solo career after she and SWA had recorded their final LP, Run Down The Mic, in 2004. In 2013 she was given an award by The President of the Republic of Sierra Leone for her outstanding performance in the music industry.
