Wayne Bosch – Guitarist | Educator | Innovator | Social Entrepreneur

Wayne Bosch’s musical journey began in the vibrant and soulful environment of the church, where he was first exposed to music. In his teens, he informally studied at the iconic MAPP (Music Action for People's Progress), a foundational experience that later led him to pursue formal studies at the University of Cape Town (UCT). Wayne graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Music (Honours) degree.

His professional career launched in 1997, and since then, he has built an impressive resume of national and international performances. Highlights include touring aboard the cruise liner Symphony, performing at the Greece World Olympics, and entertaining audiences in Kuwait. He also graced the stage of the Cape Town International Jazz Festival, performing alongside UCT faculty and alumni in collaboration with lecturers from the prestigious Berklee College of Music.

Wayne has been a regular clinician at both the Cape Town International Jazz Festival and the South Atlantic Jazz Conference, contributing significantly to music education and development. He played a pivotal role in establishing the Artist in Residence program for the Western Cape Education Department, supporting arts and culture-focused schools across the province.

He has shared the stage with globally renowned guitarists such as Larry Carlton,(USA) Gary Wittner(FRA), and Daniel Givone(FRA), and opened for Jonathan Butler in 2013. As Music Director of a South African-American collaboration, Wayne performed with trumpeter Fletch Wiley(USA) and Legendary drummer Bill Maxwell (USA, Koinonia).

Bosch has taught music since 1998, contributing to various community music schools, NGOs, and NPOs. From 2006 to 2012, he taught at several high schools across the Western Cape and served on the matric examination board. In 2013, he moved to Pretoria to take up the role of Music Program Manager at the Tshwane School of Music (TSOM), later advancing to Development and Innovation Manager. Currently Bosch also serves as Supervisor for the Youth at Work, Y.E.S program where he's training the trainers to become effective teachers in the working environment.

Throughout his career, Wayne has collaborated with an impressive roster of South African jazz icons, including Judith Sephuma, Esther Miller, Emily Bruce, Melanie Scholtz, McCoy Mrubata, Gerry Spencer, Concord Nkabinde, Frank Paco, Spencer Mbadu, Andre Petersen, Kesivan Naidoo, Kevin Gibson, Hotep Galeta, Errol and Alvin Dyers, and many more.

In 2018, Wayne graduated from the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) with a qualification in Social Entrepreneurship, reflecting his ongoing commitment to youth and community development.

Wayne Bosch’s artistry continues to evolve. He is known for his groundbreaking performance concept of playing guitar and organ foot bass simultaneously—a unique and creative endeavor that led him to design and build his own foot bass pedals, which he plans to commercialize. This innovative approach sets him apart in the music world.

In 2025, Wayne released his debut album, Duo Artistry, showcasing his distinctive concept and musical versatility. He has since toured South Africa, presenting his innovative performance method and introducing his self-authored book, An Improvisational Method Using...
