Walter Koga

Walter Koga is an artist from Kenya who began playing the nyatiti music instrument when he was fifteen years old.

Koga draws his music influence from his grandfather who was a talented nyatiti player. He later sharpened his nyatiti-playing under the tutelage of veteran artist Ogwang’ Lelo who was a great nyatiti player in the 70s.

Other than the nyatiti, Koga is also a talented saxophone player. In 2005, he recorded his debut album called 'Wach Hera' followed by his second album 'Thum Nyatiti.' In 2008, he performed at Alliance Francaise alongside Iddi Achieng . In 2013, Koga was among artists who performed at the FIFA World Cup tour at Kenyatta International Conference Centre in Nairobi.
