Bio
VJ Ice (real name Anthony Malisawa) is a celebrated, award-winning DJ, producer, and video director from Malawi. He is the co-founder of King of the Nights, a dynamic team of DJs, and is widely recognized as one of the most creative and talented young artists the country has ever produced.
He has performed at a wide range of high-profile events, including private, corporate, and diplomatic functions, as well as some of Malawi's biggest festivals. Notable appearances include the Airtel Malawi Live Facebook Party during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020, events at Sunbird Hotels (Lilongwe and Salima), the U.S. Marines Ball, Fourth of July Independence celebrations, St. Patrick’s Day, Lake of Stars, and the Sand Music Festival.
VJ Ice’s journey in entertainment began early. Inspired by his dream of becoming a music producer, he joined his school band at the age of seven. Influenced by local legends such as Chipiliro Khonje, Ron CZ, and Essim Mbwana—and internationally by filmmaker Joseph Kahn—he found his path into both music and film.
He officially entered the entertainment industry on May 26, 2006. The name "VJ" stands for Video Jockey, reflecting his deep roots in video production and music mixing. As a club DJ, he specializes in dancehall and house music, delivering energetic sets that resonate with diverse audiences.
VJ Ice has produced several notable music videos, including Lubwa by Tay Grin, Nakupenda by Well Kay, and Serenade and Overload by Hazel Mak, among many others.
Beyond DJing and video production, VJ Ice is also a skilled graphic designer, photographer, programmer, and entrepreneur—continually expanding his creative footprint in the Malawian and global entertainment landscape.
