Bio
Known professionally as Uncle Waffles, she is a Swazi DJ and record producer based in South Africa. She has become one of the most influential figures in the amapiano genre, recognised not only for her production skills but also for her dynamic stage presence and distinctive dance style. Billboard has described her as the “princess of amapiano”, a title that reflects her rapid rise to prominence in 2022 and her role in taking the genre to international audiences.
Her debut single, Tanzania, became a major hit, reaching number one in South Africa and earning a remarkable seven-times platinum certification. Uncle Waffles continues to push creative boundaries, establishing herself as a significant global voice in contemporary African music.
She has received several award nominations, including at the BET Awards, and has played an important role in elevating the visibility and respect of women DJs across the region, inspiring a growing number of female artists to follow in her footsteps.
