Turunesh’s discography is an embrace—sometimes sweet, sometimes warm, but always intoxicating. At 14 years old, she blended her love for poetry with singing, shyly releasing original songs on SoundCloud and sharing her music with a small circle of friends. Little did she know how deeply her music would resonate, eventually breaking new ground in East Africa’s and Vancouver’s alternative music scenes. Her influence was solidified with the release of her globally acclaimed sophomore album, Satin Cassette, and its sold-out headliner show at Vancouver’s iconic venue, Biltmore Cabaret.

Now based in Toronto, Turunesh returns after a two-year hiatus with her highly anticipated album, Nesha’s Cypher. Continuing to refine her experimental sound, she crafts a futuristic world through her self-founded label and creative studio, Nesha Empire. Her music navigates the complex theme of digital decay in self love and intimacy, as seen in her works; ControlS!, Tamagotchi, and BackFat.

The visuals are rooted in futurism, while her sonic landscape innovatively blends elements of alternative R&B, Neo-Soul, and Swahili Jazz. As a singer, songwriter, producer, and creative director, Turunesh stands as a multifaceted artist and a captivating new voice in the experimental music scene.
