Bio
Born Thunzi Nxele, Thwing is a dynamic Amapiano producer, DJ, and percussionist whose vibrant sound has been evolving since 2017. With a unique ability to fuse rhythm, melody, and emotion, he creates music that tells stories and resonates across diverse audiences.
Beyond his solo work, Thwing is also an active percussionist for the band Ntozakwantu, where he has performed across multiple stages and venues. Through these live experiences, he has shared stages with respected artists such as Buhle Bendalo, Sbusile Xaba, Thabang Tabane, Lerato Lichaba, and Kgontse Makhene—an influential figure who played a key role in shaping his percussion style.
His performance setup—featuring two congas, a djembe, shakers, and a range of percussive elements—adds a distinct, organic layer to his artistry, setting him apart in the Amapiano space.
As a producer, Thwing has collaborated with artists including Donald Sheffey, Sobzeen, General Slam, and Bruno Soarez, contributing to the ongoing evolution of the genre in South Africa. His talent has also been recognized on Jozi FM, where he secured three consecutive weekly wins, highlighting both his consistency and growing audience appeal.
