Thierry Wacu

Thierry Wacu (born Duhimiyimana Thierry Pacifique) is a Rwandan traditional and contemporary fusion artist whose music bridges the past and the present, carrying the soul of Rwanda to the global stage. Rooted in the rich cultural heritage of his homeland, Thierry combines traditional rhythms, melodies, and storytelling with modern sounds to create music that is both authentic and universal.

He studied and graduated from the Rwanda School of Creative Arts and Music (Nyundo Music School), building a strong foundation in traditional performance, cultural expression, and modern artistic practices. In 2025, he also became certified in the So Creative Entrepreneurship Programme by the African Leadership University (ALU) in partnership with the British Council, gaining international exposure in creative leadership and cultural exchange.

As an artist, Thierry believes that music is one of the strongest tools to promote Rwanda’s identity and tourism. His latest single, “Nduririmbe”, was created with this vision in mind: to inspire both Rwandans and international audiences to celebrate Rwanda as a land of culture, resilience, and unity.
