Bio
Tdo Soulfreak, born Thato Madilola, is a South African DJ, music curator, entrepreneur, and events specialist from Taung in the North West Province. Raised in Mafikeng, his journey into music began as a passionate collector before evolving into a career behind the decks. Known for his commitment to promoting distinctive sounds and creating opportunities for emerging talent, Tdo Soulfreak has built a reputation that extends beyond DJing into event management, artist development, and music promotion.
His career began in 1998 as a bedroom DJ experimenting with computer software before transitioning to vinyl records and CDs. As his popularity grew, he became a sought-after performer at school functions, house parties, and community events throughout his neighbourhood. The income generated from these early performances allowed him to invest further in his craft, eventually acquiring professional sound equipment and establishing Nerdfone Entertainment, a company offering event management, artist management, event consultation, and professional sound services.
Driven by a vision to celebrate individuality within the music industry, Tdo Soulfreak has consistently championed unique musical expression while creating platforms for young artists to showcase their talents. His mission centres on nurturing upcoming creatives and contributing to the growth of South Africa's independent music ecosystem through both performance and mentorship.
Over the years, he has expanded his reach through numerous radio appearances and residencies, featuring on stations including Vaaltar FM, Kurara FM, Bopbirima FM's Afternoon Drive, RB2 Radio Botswana's Afternoon Drivetime Show, You FM, and Metro FM through Oskido's I Believe platform. His work has also received coverage in publications such as Daily News Botswana, Daily Sun, and Vryburg Times.
Beyond radio and print media, Tdo Soulfreak has appeared on television programmes including Hit Refresh (Vuzu/DStv), Pula Power Season 2 (BTV Botswana), and Live Amp (SABC 1). His growing digital footprint includes features on online platforms such as Tarquila Gang, Motswako Carwash, and Jamming with Uncle Des.
As a recording artist, Tdo Soulfreak has released a number of projects and collaborations, including Feel The Samefeaturing P-Tempo, Freak, Makukhanye featuring French August, and How Ever alongside Dvine Brothers featuring Decency. He also contributed to the House Victimz 2022 album, further showcasing his versatility within the South African house music landscape.
Today, Tdo Soulfreak continues to balance his roles as a DJ, entrepreneur, promoter, and mentor, using music as a vehicle for community development and creative empowerment.
