Swaziland Arts and Music Association (SWAMA)

Bio

The Swaziland Arts and Music Association (SWAMA) is the largest national association of musicians and an affiliate of the Swaziland National Council of Arts and Culture. The association makes sure musicians whose music is played on TV and radio stations are given royalties. The deal came after the association’s futile efforts of clinching the Copy Rights Bill locally. Since then, SWAMA established another wing within the association called SWAMA Publishing Company which focuses on representing local artists in other countries. They also managed to seal a deal with the South African Music Rights Organisation (SAMRO) to collect royalties in SA on behalf of the association.

In February 2016, the association hosted a successful artist’s jamming session, where almost every artist signed under them came to play. The session was held at Manzimnyama, Zombodze, where artists performed in a big stage provided by F2R.
